If you are getting an "Interface not supported" message, you are using Internet Explorer 4 with a corrupt registry setting. Go to this page to correct it. The Tourism Pages

The Banner

The banner (above!) provides a variety of information. The central panel indicates which area of the DEDT's operation you are currently viewing (Tourism/Sharks Board/SA Lifesaving etc.). The top right panel displays text links that link backwards to the tourism area home page, the DEDT Tourism page and finally to the DEDT Home Page.

The far right panel contains a number of static buttons that indicate the following (clockwise from the top)(click on the buttons/icons to see what they do):

. . . return to the DEDT home page,
. . . the contact page containing email and postal addresses of the Department of Economic Development,
. . . a link to the search page of the site,
. . . a link to this page and finally,
. . . a link to the site map.

The lower central panel contains a number of links that will vary depending on the area within the DEDT site:
Link to a detailed map of KwaZulu-Natal. This map is clickable and you may go directly to a large number of destinations in the province from it.
Link to a page of local Publicity Office addresses.
Link to the Boer War Centenary programme page.
Link to the Tour Operators listing
Link to a suggested reading list for the area of the site currently under view.
Under the banner, a link to Tourism Links page - a collection of tourism related SA links. Next to the page title, a link to a specific external site.
Link to a page of tourist hints, tips and information for visitors to South Africa.
Link to the Museums of KwaZulu-Natal page.
Where you see this icon next to the title of a page, it designates a KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife resort and clicking on it will take you to KwaZulu Wildlife accommodation page.

The RHS Margin

The RHS margin usually contains a blue 'map' bullet. Clicking the mouse over this icon will result in the display of a popup window showing a map. In most cases, this map is a link to other areas of the site and will close once a selection has been made by clicking on a link on the map. In the Durban pages, there are three different coloured map icons which will take you to either a Flash map of central Durban (which you can zoom and pan, and also contains links(click on the next bullet)) Link to Flash map of central Durban , a (clickable) immediate area map of Durban  Link Map  or thirdly, a (non-clickable) map covering a larger area . The Great Trek pages also display a variety of buttons which popup (non-clickable) maps of the major treks.

To Page Top

Interspersed between the map icons are small green arrows which, when clicked on, will return you to the top of the page.

The Footer

The base of each page is terminated by a bead footer that contains links (from left to right) as follows: Back to the last page you visited; up to the previous item on the current menu list; on to the next item on the menu list and finally to the DEDT Tourism Home Page.
