Both Uvongo and its sister resorts, Manaba Beach and St. Michael's on Sea have excellent tidal pools and there is fishing, boating and other facilities.
The Uvongo estuary is one of the deepest in KwaZulu-Natal with the Ivungu River plummeting 25 metres over a waterfall into the lagoon. The word Uvongo means 'rumbling'.
There is also an extensive bird park with more than 80 species. The Uvongo River Nature Reserve is a 70 acre gem of unspoilt beauty and has a variety of trees that only occur in this area.
There are braai and picnic spots and a two hour self guided trail.
